Tao Zhang initially studied Western Medicine, graduating from Hebei Medical University with a medical degree in China. Both professional and personal experiences inspired him to study Chinese Medicine as a graduate student at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine where he received both his Master’s and Doctorate degree in Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. He then practiced Integrated Medicine including acupuncture in Beijing Anzhen Hospital. In 1999, Tao moved to Philadelphia, PA to conduct his biomedical research in cancer and cardiovascular diseases as a scientist at Thomas Jefferson University and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Since then he has attended many continuing education programs in acupuncture with a focus on pain management. Also, he obtained his NCCAOM certification and became licensed in acupuncture in NJ. He uses acupuncture, cupping and Chinese style massage to treat patients with various disorders including acute and chronic pain, GI disorders, musculoskeletal issues, stress and anxiety. In the fall of 2018, Tao joined Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling, jogging and playing ping pong.
