Dr. Ed Barbieri was first exposed to chiropractic at a young age & received his first adjustment just moments after he was born from his father who has been a chiropractor for over 35 years. Having a chiropractor at home helped Dr. Barbieri to recover quickly from numerous athletic injuries during his adolescence and allowed him to excel in football and lacrosse. It wasn’t until Dr. Ed had the opportunity to meet a long-time patient of his grandfather, who practiced chiropractic for over 60 years, that he realized the breath of the profession. She was being seen for subluxations which altered her vision and eventually caused her to lose her sight. After only a few adjustments, her vision was gradually restored. Up until that time, Dr. Ed's understanding of chiropractic was limited to low back pain and other aches and pains. He had no idea of the intimate relationship shared between the spine and nervous system and the role it plays in health. Soon after, Dr. Ed enrolled at Pennsylvania State University where he pursued prerequisites and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology. Dr. Ed continued on to the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and became the 5th member of his family to practice chiropractic.
Dr. Ed spent his summers growing up in Surf City cementing a love for the beach and this community. He now resides in Manahawkin with his wife and children. Dr. Ed has worked with many people of various backgrounds ranging from youth and professional athletes to children with disabilities along with the working class and blue-collar laborers to retirees. Dr. Ed is excited to help reach more people by joining the Thompson team. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, fishing, and taking advantage of the beautiful environment this area offers.
